Design with Confidence: Tools to Help You Visualize Spoonflower Designs in Your Space
Have you found the absolutely perfect design on Spoonflower, but in reality, aren’t sure how it is going to look in your actual home? That’s a question many homeowners face when conceptualizing their home design. For many, the most intimidating obstacle when planning a home makeover is knowing whether what’s in your head will transfer to your home in the way you hope.

I’m Mary Grace Scully, Head of Marketing at Locker, design afficionado, and Spoonflower enthusiast. I’m here to talk you through how to utilize the many fantastic tools out there to help get over that exact hurdle and visualize your favorite Spoonflower products in real life spaces before committing.
Everyone says that designing your home should be intentional, and that impulsive purchases won't come together cohesively. This is even more important when deciding on products that serve as the focal point of a room, like wallpaper, curtains and bedding. That's where tools like Locker come into play.

When you come across products that inspire you (like throw pillows in various patterns on Spoonflower) but need to consider them holistically with the room vibe you're curating, you can save them to visual collections. Locker collections allow you to look at the bigger picture theme for a room and begin to narrow down the options you've sourced over time, then ultimately decide without hesitation on the on the best products for your space. If you browse my Locker "Home" collection, you'll see dozens of wallpaper samples and fabrics I initially considered from Spoonflower before deciding on my winning products!
Locker essentially serves as a platform to create shoppable mood boards to save items for purchase later once you're confident. Mood boards are such a great way to visualize the aesthetic you’re trying to achieve in your home, while being able to weave in images of products and styles that you feel inspired by.

Though they don’t have the same shopping capabilities that Locker does, three more great resources to create mood boards for your home are Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint, ChatGPT, and Google Slides. In all these platforms, you’re able to add images, text, and even stickers in Canva. You can also add multiple pages in each of these programs, giving you the opportunity to compare a few different avenues of design side by side, which is super helpful if you’re having trouble landing on a theme or aesthetic in your space.
Aside from being a totally relaxing creative outlet, I’ve found that arranging screenshots of some of my favorite products I have saved on Locker, combined with some inspiration photos from Pinterest, and any other interior elements that inspire me, is a fantastic (and super satisfying) way to gather all my thoughts in one neat little package. Then that mood board acts as a reference point as I continue my purchasing and decorating journey.

The beauty (and sometimes the pain) of shopping on Spoonflower is resisting the urge to not redecorate even more rooms in my house than originally planned. Even though their design library is huge, I love how easy it is to filter by vibe, color, price or texture. Plus, when you initially find a pattern you love and consider it for an element like wallpaper, a whole world of possibilities opens up on how to incorporate that pattern in other ways on other products. I was able to match my wallpaper to bedding, curtains, and more! As someone who considers themselves to have "traditional style with a maximalist flare,” I was able to check every box (and then some!) on Spoonflower.
Still unsure and have things in your cart with nowhere to go? Spoonflower offers 1:1 design assistance with their product specialists to help guide you through the design process and make you feel confident about your purchase.

Visualization tools like Locker, Canva, PowerPoint, and Google Slides made it easy to consolidate all of my ideas in one visual lookbook and piece together what may work and what won’t. When I made my final decisions on products for my dining room and two bedroom projects, I felt confident those rooms would come together in the way I had hoped and planned using these tools. And they did!
